Plans, why do I even attempt to make them? Whenever I plan anything, something happens. My plan to start learning and integrating Kubernetes has been pushed back. A routine doctor’s appointment turned into something else. From my blood pressure being sky high, to my diabetes causing issues, I’ve been basically out of commission. While I have been working, I have not been doing much else.
My doctor prescribed the Dexcom G7, and let me tell you, since installing it I’ve already made major changes in my eating. My a1c jumped from 6.1 to 9.8, and I had not really changed my eating habits. I say really because, well, at night I have been snacking on frozen fruit snacks, or ice cream. But this was only the last 3-4 weeks.
I used to drink pop like it was water. We would buy 3-6 12-packs, and they would be gone within 1-2 weeks. But seeing my numbers in real time jump, I’ve already made changes. But, the good thing — we think we’ve discovered what is the cause of one of my current issues. We’ll see.
I’ve recovered mostly, but I am not 100% yet. I work, then I basically rest and go to sleep. Which means, I have not had time to even begin. But, I plan to begin making major changes (and documenting along the way) in the next few days. Sunday, my “football” day — the day I normally would not work, or do anything other than rest, and watch football. Well, Football season has begun! First home preseason game. Let’s go Colts! I am a season ticket holder, so will be at every game. Maybe if the camera’s pan over Section 249, you will see me.
So the plain. Saturday, make some changes to my seedbox syncing setup. I have a seedbox, and use a modified version of Seedsync to move media that is managed by the *arr suite, and Overseerr to my local NAS. Once sync’d to my local NAS, radarr/sonarr then take over and properly name and move media, and force a resync. I currently run 3 separate instances — this will change. I am going to change my directory layout, and move to one instance.
I will also be changing the structure of my local media. I currently have the following setup on my NAS:
/mnt/SAS-POOL02/Media
/mnt/SAS-POOL02/Media/TV Shows
/mnt/SAS-POOL02/Media/TV4k
/mnt/SAS-POOL02/Media/TVKids
/mnt/SAS-POOL02/Media/Movies
/mnt/SAS-POOL02/Media/Movies-Sorted/4k
/mnt/SAS-POOL02/Media/Movies-Sorted/Kids
/mnt/SAS-POOL02/Media/Music
/mnt/SAS-POOL02/Media/Cartoons
/mnt/SAS-POOL02/Media/Anime
/mnt/SAS-POOL02/Media/Documentaries
/mnt/SAS-POOL02/Media
I’m going to revamp my structure. I’m thinking:
/mnt/SAS-POOL02/Media
/mnt/SAS-POOL02/Media/TV/Standard
/mnt/SAS-POOL02/Media/TV/4k/mnt/SAS-POOL02/Media/TVKids
/mnt/SAS-POOL02/Media/Movies/Standard
/mnt/SAS-POOL02/Media/Movies/4k/mnt/SAS-POOL02/Media/Movies-Sorted/Kids
/mnt/SAS-POOL02/Media/Music
/mnt/SAS-POOL02/Media/TV/Cartoons
/mnt/SAS-POOL02/Media/Anime
/mnt/SAS-POOL02/Media/Documentaries
I want to setup something like Tidarr or similar, and re-encode my entire collection to a standard (read that, less likely to transcode) format. Not sure if I will do GPU encoding, or use CPU. But the idea of farming the job to multiple VMs is the plain.
We shall see. I will be moving to Kubernetes. Just stay tuned..
